1. Aerial Tramway to Ober Gatlinburg
The Aerial Tramway to Ober Gatlinburg is not only a convenient way to get to the attractions at Ober Gatlinburg, but an exciting attraction in itself! Each of the two 120 passenger counter balanced tram cars provide a breathtaking journey from downtown Gatlinburg to the amusement park and ski area where you can enjoy a mountain coaster, wildlife encounter and other fun activities. The trams depart every 20 minutes from the Aerial Tram station at Parkway and LeConte Street, which is just around the corner from the Old Creek Lodge!
2. Hollywood Star Cars Museum
Another one of the awesome attractions near our hotel in Gatlinburg TN that you have to try is the Hollywood Star Cars Museum! This is a fascinating museum to visit for fans of television and film as it features vehicles from some of the most popular movies and television shows from the last 50 years! These include such famous cars as the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard, the DeLorean time machine car from Back to the Future, the Mellow Yellow race car from the Days of Thunder and two Batmobiles from the Batman television show and Batman Returns! All of the cars are displayed in recreated settings with lights, sound and action to add to the excitement!
3. Gatlinburg Space Needle
Enjoy a stunning panoramic view of downtown Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains from the top of the Gatlinburg Space Needle! This massive 407-foot-tall tower offers an observation platform where you see miles in the distance, especially with the viewfinders that are included for free! The observation deck is served by a pair of glass elevators with a capacity of 20 persons each. Once at the top, be sure to check out the Higher Learning exhibits that provide educational facts and history about Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains. The Gatlinburg Space Needle is open both during the day and at night, so be sure to come back during the evening hours to look down upon the twinkling lights of downtown Gatlinburg!
4. Ripley’s Odditorium
If you want to visit one of the weirdest Gatlinburg attractions, step into the doors of Ripley’s Odditorium! This museum features all types of wacky exhibits that have to be seen in person to be believed, including a dragon constructed from recycled scrap metal, a car completely covered in crystals, the Last Supper artwork made from lint and many other oddities! Altogether, Ripley’s Odditorium offers 16 themed galleries on 3 floors with hundreds of exhibits to explore!
