While these attractions are open all year long for your eerie entertainment, the scares are heightened throughout the month of October! Therefore, gather your family and friends together to see if you have what it takes to challenge some of the most terrifying attractions in the Smokies! Here are 3 spooky haunted houses in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge that you need to visit this fall:

1. Mysterious Mansion

The Mysterious Mansion is situated in a delightfully creepy location along River Road and beckons guests to explore its sinister hallways and chambers! This iconic attraction has been scaring Smoky Mountain visitors for over 30 years, so you won’t want to miss this one! You’ll have to face your deepest fears as you navigate your way through secret passageways, eerie dark corridors and winding staircases in this 3 story haunted mansion. Just proceed with caution as you never know what, or who, might be lurking in the shadows! The Mysterious Mansion features special Halloween presentations on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from the beginning of October until the first weekend of November.

2. Ripley’s Haunted Adventure

Another one of the spooky haunted houses in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge that you need to visit is Ripley’s Haunted Adventure, which is located right along the Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg! This attraction isn’t for the faint of heart as you’ll be stepping into the unknown as you face your darkest fears! Discover what goes bump in the night as live actors, special effects and unexpected surprises keep you on your toes in this bone-chilling walk through experience. Ripley’s Haunted Adventure offers its annual Fright Nights show in October with the G & S Dead and Breakfast, the place where everyone is dying to stay! Fright Nights take place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Halloween from 4 PM to 11 PM and Sundays from 1 PM to 9 PM. Note that there is no extra charge for this special experience!

3. Outbreak Dread the Undead

If you just can’t get enough Halloween fun in Gatlinburg, head just a bit north to Pigeon Forge for Outbreak Dread the Undead! This zombie-themed haunted house attraction is part of the Hollywood Wax Museum Entertainment Center and offers an interactive adventure that is sure to be a highlight of your vacation! As part of the force meant to stop a worldwide outbreak, you’ll make your way through a ransacked lab, ruined morgue, and rotting basement to assure that the undead are contained. Along the way, you’ll need to avoid being infected by hordes of aggressive zombies! The building is on lockdown, so your only way out is through an emergency exit on the other side of the compound!
